Graphene around the world in 2017

With 2016 drawing to a close, here at Graphitene we are looking forward to the New Year and all 2017 will hold. Continuing on from an exciting year for graphene all around the world, 2017 looks to continue the trend for a wide range of global graphene conferences. Here’s a round up of some of the highlights of the calendar so far.

 

January

11-13: Printable and Flexible Electronics China, Shanghai, China

Kicking off the year is Printed and Flexible Electronics China, a yearly event organised by Demand-LED focused on the end-users of printed and flexible electronics. Topics include graphene, OLEDs, quantum dots, sensors, VR and AR, wearables, wireless power and energy. Top experts and industry leaders across the world will share their views on how to accelerate the commercialisation of printed and flexible electronics, with this looking to be a great event for materials developers, researchers and investors.

February

27-2 March: Mobile World Congress 2017, Barcelona, Spain

The MWC is the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry, organized by the GSMA. It features a large exhibition, conference programme and networking opportunities.

The Graphene Flagship partners with the event and will host a graphene pavilion in the exhibition to showcase graphene materials and developers, following the success of the pavilion at last year’s MWC. A highlight of the is on Thursday 2 March, “From Datacom to IoT, Enabled by Graphene”, also linked with the Graphene Flagship.

March

28-31: Graphene 2017, Barcelona, Spain

The 7th edition of the Graphene Conference series, the largest European Event in Graphene and 2D Materials, will be organised in Barcelona from 28th until 31st March 2017. Over the past 6 meetings, the Graphene Conference strengthened its position as the main meeting point of the Graphene community worldwide. With plenary talks from Albert Fert, Andre Geim, Tony F Heinz and Philip Kim, this year’s attendees can expect another successful and fascinating conference.

April

26-28: European Graphene Forum, Paris, France

The 3rd Edition European Graphene Forum will be organized in Paris (France) this April. This event will cover the latest technology developments, applications, commercialization progress, end user requirements and challenges for Graphene and 2D Materials. Featuring plenary sessions with internationally renowned speakers, industrial sessions, an international exhibition and a brokerage event, the European Graphene Forum looks to be a great event for industry and academia alike.

May

10-11: Graphene and 2D Materials Europe 2017, Berlin, Germany

This event is a strong commercially-focused conference and exhibition on graphene and other 2D materials. Prioritising commercial progress, real application development and commercially-relevant, Graphene and 2D Materials Europe seeks to connect suppliers and customers from a variety of end user industries. Testimonials from Tata Steel and Thales, to name but two, indicate another great event this year.

June

Last chance to see: Wonder Materials: Graphene and Beyond, Manchester, United Kingdom

In this groundbreaking exhibition, visitors can discover the history of graphite and graphene, journey with scientists and artists exploring the cutting edge of material technology and be immersed in the wonders of a two dimensional world. Wonder Materials: Graphene and Beyond is a world premiere, created by the Museum of Science and Industry, in partnership with the National Graphene Institute at The University of Manchester. Recommended for ages 5 and over, this is a perfect opportunity to bring graphene to a wider audience.

July

17-18: International Conference on Graphene and Semiconductors, Chicago, IL, USA

The International Conference on Graphene and Semiconductors is to be held in Chicago, USA this July. It will bring together world-class professors, researchers, scientists and students to discuss the current developments taking place in the field of Graphene. The International Conference on Graphene and Semiconductors is organized with a theme of “The Rising Era of Graphene” with an objective to encourage young minds to overcome the challenges in the research field of graphene materials by providing an opportunity to meet the experts.

August

14-15: 2nd World Congress and Expo on Graphene & 2D Materials, Edinburgh, Scotland

Conference series LLC will host the 2nd World Congress and Expo on Graphene & 2D Materials in Edinburgh this August. The theme is “Emerging Innovations in Graphene & 2D Materials”¸ a topic we here at Graphitene know is exciting and ever developing. Graphene & 2D Materials 2017 provides a symposium for scientists, engineers, directors of companies and students in the field of nanotechnology to meet and share their knowledge. It provides a premier technical forum for reporting and learning about the latest research and development, as well as for launching new applications and technologies.<h2

25-29: Graphene Week, Athens, Greece

The main event of the Graphene Flagship, Graphene Week has a long history of creating Europe’s most influential conference on graphene and related two-dimensional materials. Graphene Week brings together international key experts and professionals from all around the world. With previous host countries including the UK, Sweden, the Netherlands, the USA and Austria, this year’s Graphene Week will be held in Athens, Greece.
